Club Ongoing Projects

Carols in the Village (cancelled due Covid in 2021)

The Club runs a BBQ and helps Father Christmas distribute gifts at the Walkerville Carols each year on the Walkerville Oval. We also supply the Glo Stick candles on the night.

Walkerville Fair

The Club runs a BBQ at the Walkerville Fair each year on the Levi Park Oval.(delayed due to weather to Australia day 2022)

Used Stamp Collection (on hold)

Members, friends and local businesses collect used stamps (on paper) in association with District 9810 in Victoria. The project was started in 1991 and has supported a wide variety of national projects. To date, the collection and sale of used stamps has raised $114,900. The current project is a 2 year fund raiser to assist the ‘End Trachoma’ project in Central Australia. Here are some recent figures:

Christmas Hampers

Christmas hampers are donated each year to St Vincent de Pauls or other suitable charity. We buy these from Foodbank and the club members also donate goods for a special larger hamper.

Meals on Wheels (No currently active drivers)

Several of our members are regular volunteers for the Prospect kitchen. We drive and serve in the North Adelaide, Medindie, Gilberton and Walkerville areas.

Catering at Ronald McDonald House

A team of Rotarians and Friends supply, prepare, cook and serve meals to the guests at Ronald McDonald House in Melbourne Street three of four times a year.

BBQs at Bunnings

A regular fundraiser is our BBQ at Bunnings – Windsor Gardens. We sell snags and drinks from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm in the carpark of Bunnings.

BBQs at Eynesbury College (on hold due college closing due Covid and loss of overseas students))

Another regular fundraiser are our BBQs for the International students at Eynesbury College. We cook halal sausages and patties and the college provides the drinks and salads for 3 or 4 lunches a year.

Indigenous Health Scholar

For some years now we have been sponsoring an indigenous scholar to study at tertiary level in the health sciences or medicine.
In addition, the club supports indigenous scholars at Adelaide University with the provision of laptop computers.

Literacy and Numeracy Awards

The Club presents Literacy and Numeracy Certificates to students in Primary Schools in our district. These awards are presented annually to students in each year level selected by their teachers. In addition to a certificate, the students receive a book voucher from Peggy Williams Bookshop.

Youth Projects

For some years now we have been sponsoring students to attend NYSF, RYLA and RYPEN
